Having worked in the building industry for many years and recently seeing the need for genuine craftsmen being eroded by the advances in building technology, we decided
that our skills could be better utilised manufacturing high class furniture for discerning clients.
So the Pine Box Company was created.
We had noticed how much material was being destroyed by the developers
need to demolish old buildings and erect new in as short a time as possible and we felt that the timber which was being destroyed was “first cut” timber
from trees which had been around for hundreds of years, the like of which any of us are unlikely to see again.
So, with this in mind, we endeavoured to travel countrywide and reclaim as much of this first cut
timber as we could. Now, with substantial stocks of reclaimed timber, we are proud to claim that we are able to manufacture all of our products, if required, from “old” timber.
The first products we made? Well, as you might guess, pine boxes. These were constructed totally from reclaimed panel
doors, the panels giving character to the boxes, two of which came from each door.
Our logo? Well, by utilising every piece
of reclaimed timber from the doors, we inevitably found ourselves with the key hole which has now become our logo and is ‘stamped’ on many of our products.
As well as our roots in reclaimed timbers, we are happy to provide furniture from other sustainable
timbers such as beech, oak, cherry and pine. However we do not make furniture from imported hardwoods.
